Privacy Policy

1. Summary
ExemptLand is a software product for Texas landowners. We collect the minimum information needed to help you prepare property-tax-exemption applications and run the service securely. We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with advertisers.
2. What we collect
To run the service we collect:
- Account info: name, email address, hashed password, and authentication metadata.
- Property info: property address, parcel ID, acreage, county appraisal district records, and any photos, receipts, or documents you upload as evidence.
- Plan info: management practices, target species, and other content you enter while preparing a wildlife or agricultural plan.
- Payment info: we never see or store credit-card numbers. Stripe processes payments and returns to us only a customer ID, the products you purchased, and the amount paid.
- Usage info: standard server logs (IP address, user agent, request paths) and product analytics needed to debug, secure, and improve the service.
3. How we use your information
- generate the documents and reminders you purchased;
- authenticate you and prevent unauthorized access;
- charge subscriptions and process refunds;
- send transactional email (welcome, document-ready notifications, deadline reminders) and, if you opt in, occasional product updates;
- respond to support requests;
- comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
4. Service providers
We rely on a small set of vendors to operate ExemptLand. They process your information only under written agreements that limit their use to providing services to us:
- Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage.
- Vercel — hosting, edge delivery, and serverless compute.
- Stripe — payment processing and the customer billing portal.
- Resend — transactional email delivery.
- Mapbox — satellite imagery and basemap rendering.
- Anthropic — AI-assisted drafting of plan content from data you supply. We do not allow Anthropic to train models on your data.
5. Public records and county data
ExemptLand reads publicly available records from county appraisal districts, the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and similar government sources to populate forms and maps. Information already available in those public records remains public.
6. How long we keep your data
We keep your account data and generated documents while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward (generally up to seven years) to support tax-record retention expectations and resolve any disputes. You can request earlier deletion at any time (see Section 8).
7. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards: TLS encryption in transit, encryption at rest for database and storage, role-based access control, row-level security on multi-tenant tables, and limited administrative access. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach affecting your data, we will notify you in accordance with applicable Texas law.
8. Your choices and rights
You can:
- access, correct, or download the information in your account;
- delete your account and associated data by emailing support@exempt.land;
- cancel a subscription at any time through the Stripe billing portal;
- opt out of non-transactional email at the bottom of any marketing message we send.
Texas residents may have additional rights under the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act. Email us to exercise them.
9. Children
ExemptLand is not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Cookies
ExemptLand uses essential cookies to keep you signed in and protect against cross-site request forgery. We do not use third-party advertising cookies on our authenticated pages. The public marketing site may include lightweight analytics that respect your browser’s Do-Not-Track signal.
11. Changes
If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will email registered users and post the update here with a new “Last updated” date.
